Welcome to all you newbies...

... that I haven't said hello to yet! I've not been on much lately due to satellite problems (I think some aliens up there are using our satellite to play quidditch with or something!). Now I'm using the library PC - should do that more often - and trying to catch up with all that's happened here in the last few weeks!

Great to see this forum is still growing, and growing... Must be all that muck and magic we are putting in.

Still no broadband in sight... Goodness knows what they are up to that they can't get that fixed. I'm at HQ today, using one of the PCs there - should be working hard on something just now....He, he, don't tell anybody!

Anyway, Shirley is keeping me up to date with anything important. But I miss the daily chat - not much of a social life without that! Sad case, I know.

How many people actually live near you though? I am sure that you know a higher percentage of people living in a 5 mile radius than I do. - Not sad at all in that case

I might try and make this forum avaible for 3G mobile phones at some point next year if I can. Would that be any use?

LOL... sorry Andy... I shouldn't laugh... It might benefit some people but probably not us up here in the sticks...

I'm about 40 miles away from Ina....40 from purpledragon, about 15 from Stoney, further still from Lou8, Closer to Jo at around 14 miles but consider them all to be my neighbours - it's all relative. I have to drive 5 miles to get J to nursery.

I don't think it's sad Ina.... especially when you take the distances above into consideration. It's hardly close enough to pop over for a coffee every day is it.

Shirley is right - and I'm officially on my lunch break now, so I can use this without feeling guilty!

I do have one friend I sometimes visit within 4 miles distance. Unfortunately, she works fulltime (shifts), and in her spare time runs a farm and a household for two rather useless men (husband and son). So I only see her once in a blue moon. And no, mobiles don't work here - at least they rarely do, which is why I haven't got one!

Nevermind, we'll get that fixed yet. I'll just have to visit the library more often. Mind you, that's 10 miles away, and has very restricted opening hours...

HEY, here's an idea - you could get that computer of yours set up at home - that job you've been meaning to do all the time you've been a member of this forum! Even dial up would be better than the satellite non-service you get on the farm.

Great minds think alike! Didn't somebody say there was a new freecycle group for Aberdeenshire out-of-towners? There's a few things I could do with that I'm sure somebody has sitting in their garage (if their garage is anything like mine)...

I've put my name down for a "new" old PC; our IT department is upgrading again, so I'm hopeful. I think they owe me the best they've got!

There is - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Aberdeens ... Freecycle/

It's fairly quiet but will only get busier if people join in.
