Hi All,

This forum has just been recommended to me regarding a new project I have launched which I hope everyone here can help me with.

Looking at the posts I am sure its the rigth place to mention my project.

I have set up a non commercial website, www.vegboxschemes.co.uk to promote locally sourced fruit and veg. The site features lots of info but most vitally we need all you guys who use a box scheme to log on and recommend it. The site needs populating by everyone so that people can easilly find their local schemes.

Box schemes are a great way of supporting the community and teachning kids about where food comes from and its seasonality etc. It was scary but when I first ordered a box last year and my 2 year old son couldn't work out why the veg had mud on it......

Anyway, please visit the site www.vegboxschemes.co.uk and promote a scheme as it is currently an empty database that needs populating by all of you who use a scheme and are happy with it.

hello and good luck with the sceme it seems like it will be a valuable resource I visited a local organic farm the other day and found that they did a veg box I had never heard of them!

Hope that it is not widely regarded as 'shameless' promotion though as we have no financial gain from our site. It's a totally free service and we felt it was better to launch to the more appropriate forums than the press.

You won't find any advertising other than the submissions from customers or schemes and neither of which pay.

Thanks for giving us our say on the forum and we will certainly get involved here as it is an excellent site.

Out of interest when a "veg Box" or organic farm want to be added to your site can they just add themselves or do you vet them in any way, I say this as I am some what surprised at the local one to me that came up when I added my postcode.

Thanks tensing for checking the site out, basically either customers or the schemes themselves can register. They go into a queue until we have checked them out. We dont have the resources to do much more that look at the website or call them but for a directory as it is, its all we can do. They dont need to be organic and we appreciate that occassionally certain produce needs to be sourced from elsewhere, but in essence they should offer a decent local box and give visitors to the site a supermarket alternative on this level. Plus raise awareness of local food.
