Ethical Man on Newsnight... Water

Do you think The Good Life could be remade, with me or Dave playing Tom Good (maybe not!)? If you have seen something on TV or heard something on the radio recently that you want to talk about, tell us here.

Ethical Man on Newsnight... Water

Ethical Man's water retention

In the latest part of Newsnight's Ethical Man series, Justin addresses his family's water consumption.

He's been struggling to make changes to his lifestyle for several months now. The project has seen his car confiscated, his wife having to walk to hospital to give birth, his washing taking a spin with a set of eco balls, and an interminable planning process to crown his home with a wind turbine.

His quest to meet other ethical minds took him to the door of the Archbishop of Canterbury and his ethical principals were taken to the bosom of Elle MacPherson.

But, after months of skirting the issue, Justin is finally brought face-to-face with the contraption that has been on the tip of many an ethical tongue since the project began - yes, at last, Ethical Man meets... the composting toilet.

It uses no water, and is the first stage in a process that, when it bears fruit, can literally bear fruit - and Justin gets to taste some.

But what about in his own home? Can Justin really take this most primitive of pans to his heart? Could he really go that far back to nature?

Find out as Ethical Man dips his toe in the choppy sea that is water preservation.

ETHICAL MAN: WATER CAN BE SEEN ON NEWSNIGHT ON MONDAY, 24 JULY, 2006 AT 10.30PM ON BBC TWO

I watched that - quite entertaining. I liked the idea about siphoning the bath water straight out of the bath on to the garden - might give that a go, much to the alarm of MrL
Shame it wasn't on at a more accessible time of day, though.

He just annoys me. i hate his manner. he's very patronising sometimes. I saw the one about BGG where they featured lots of nude people. I just hate the way he is, he's smarmy and thinks hes so funny. Even worse, he thinks its all a joke to try to be ethical.
