late planting herbs
How late can you plant herbs? I was thinking that it might be nice to have another window box of them for the winter months. Now mint is not even worth thinking about as it will take over. I have had some success with basil, corriander and parsley throughout the winter. What other herbs might survive or even germinate this late in the year?

I've got mint growing in pots on my window ledge in the kitchen... are you talking about an outside window box??? Loads will work indoors but not sure about outdoor stuff....

I was thinking of mostly outdoors then brought in when there is a chance of a hard frost.

I've just started some chives. They'll go outside when they're big enough.
Also, i ordered some parsley seed from seedsofitaly and they say it can be sown until the end of september. There was some others too, but i can't remember what they were.
And, if you look ino your nearest t*scos, on the reduced section, there's usually some herbs in pots knocking about at rather cheap prices. I bought a pot of basil the other day for 94p. You have to water them well when you get them home, and then split and repot into bigger pots. I've split my basil into a strip for one of my window herb boxes.
