Carshalton Environmental Fair - 28 August

Do you know about an event that you want to talk about? Is there a campaign you have started, are involved in or want to start? Inspired by Marvin Gaye this is your place to tell the world what's going on.

Carshalton Environmental Fair - 28 August

Post: # 30742Post wulf »

On Bank Holiday Monday, there is an Environmental Fair taking place at Carshalton in Surrey - see their website for more details.

I know about this one because my band, The Elusive Teeth is taking the stage in the music café towards the end of the afternoon (see the music programme although, apparently it is quite provisional).

Bit far for us as we've decided to stay local this bank holiday & explore our city the way we explore when visiting other places. Hope all goes well & your band gets a great reception.

It went very well, although my band only got enough time for three songs... the organisers were definitely going for variety in the number of timeslots they had on. They sounded cracking though!

And, for my "green CV", it was my first ever solar-powered gig! The gear in the tent was all powered by solar panels set up by the alternative energy company that had a stall next door.

glad it went well Wulf, I can sympathise with the organisers I have put on gigs before and the playlist can sometimes be the hardest thing to manage. Especially if you have two bands that think they both deserve top billing!

Good to see that it was another solar powered event - I am sure there is a business idea to set up a solar powered PA for hire.

Gonna gig in Bristol sometime?

I don't mind too much, although I had been expecting that we would get at least one more song in. We are running our regular monthly open mic at the Burn Bullock pub in Mitcham, South London, this Thursday (unfortunately not green-fuelled) so will get a bit more time to perform then.

... or selling / renting a solar power kit able to run something like a PA system for an outdoor event (or perhaps charging a battery for an evening of music).

Never say never but we haven't presently got any plans for gigging that far afield. You'll have to content yourself with what is on our music page although, if you come across a suitable event, let me know....
