It's our 13th wedding anniversary today and we agreed that we would spend at most £20 on each other, and give gifts that are second-hand, recycled or home-made.

I got Ed some books on eBay, by his favourite author. He made me a cold-frame from recycled materials. Here's a picture:

I love it to bits. Traditionally the 13th anniversary is lace, but I think this beats handkerchiefs or knickers hands down.

I know I am lucky, Nev. My Ed is talented, hardworking and thoughtful. The day he was making the cold frame he was also in charge of 5 kids under the age of 8 - my sister and I left him at home with them whilst we went off shopping. You don't get many like him in a dozen.
