Hi, it's been a long, long time since I've been on here and I no longer have an allotment but I do have a shiny new greenhouse, bursting full of plants and I'm back into growing fruit and vegetables and looking forward to seeing how things have changed and picking up lots of tips!!
Hi GA and Flo!
I have a small amount of space to grow other things and I am utilising every part I can at the moment, Potatoes in tall plant pots, runner beans, pumpkins and courgettes squeezed into flower beds and pots everywhere. When I had the base for the greenhouse built I had a dressed dry stone flower bed built in front of it and in there I have spring onions, radish, spinach, lettuce, beetroot, leeks, sweetcorn, rhubarb and either a pumpkin or a courgette - could be either the label fell off so it will be a surprise!
Predictably the greenhouse is rammed full of tomatoes, 1 hot pepper, 1 sweet pepper, 1 cucumber and trays of lettuce, spinach, pak choi, spring onions, carrots and I'm going to start 2 pots of potatoes on the weekend ready for Christmas dinner!
You know how to get the most out of space then. I've been running two allotments for a couple of years for self and family. And yes we've done well but the space hasn't been used well enough. Will put one plot back out to see if someone else wants it when it's clear of crops.

Short time away organising retirement etc. and purchasing my first ever personal computer.
Retirement sucks! not a days break in 5 weeks, covid lockdown so can't travel, dine out etc. and to top it all off a torn meniscus in my left knee so no driving, bending, clod hopping etc.
Welcome to retirement Weedo. Although I've slowed things down a lot over the last couple of years I do keep wondering when I get a week off, like my still working husband and daughter, who think a break from work means they don't have to lift a finger!
I hope the knee recovers soon.

I agree Flo. I've been "retired" now for 27 years (or to be correct "unemployed" for 18 of those years) and never worked so much.
But now I've slowed down a bit and only work on fine days, I've given up getting wet. Given where I live, that gives me quite a lot of down time.
