Yes, that's the only way I grow them, and they grow very well hydroponically.

The mess in the greenhouse is due to me having a different layout for next year, which requires quite a bit of work.
But there is a massive wasp nest close to the door and I'm waiting for them to pop their clogs before I really start alterations.
So far they've ignored me, but I'm not going to push my luck.

How long do they take to fruit if, for example I were to sow some seed right now!!!!

Seed I seem to remember takes over a year to produce fruit and I haven't seen any seed for everbearing varieties.
I bought a dozen plants back in March, after they established they produced runners which I took so that I could fill the pipe. I think there are about 3 dozen plants in that pipe and they are all less than a year old.

I was going to offer to send you some runner plantlets in the spring, but not sure I would be allowed to after Brexit

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's relevant, but all plants entering the EU from outside must have a phytosanitary passport, but whether that will apply to an independent UK will depend on the UK.
I can send plants OUT of the EU, it's whether you can receive them.

Anyway, they won't produce runners until about April and rooted plantlets won't be old enough to leave home until May. Lots can (and will) happen between now and then.

I'm still off the plot with the knee replacement but ....

The family did an allotment raid on Sunday - last of the carrots, few onions from store, few spuds from store, plenty of swedes, plenty of leeks, red kale, sprouts, parsnips there are a few but not yet raided, last of the beetroot went last weekend. And reported that it's extremely wet.

I've got tomatoes in my hydroponic system!

Unfortunately, they'll probably be finished before Christmas (which was why we grew them). I'll have to try to start them later next year.

I decided to have later ripe tomatoes this year as in past years nobody wanted tomatoes at Christmas. So this year the plan is to have ripe fruit from late January onwards.
Well done on your's, even if they are a bit too early. That's one of the benefits of keeping a gardening diary, being able to plan to have a crop almost to the week.

Dug the last couple of kilo of onions yesterday and they are in racks finishing drying - unfortunate as these were being left for seed but the grand-daughters pet lambs (which we inherited because they ran out of room - the "no pets" rule defied again) raided the veg patch and ate everything down to ground level. At least the seed potatoes survived the onslaught and I will dig these in the next few days.

Isn't it amazing how sheep/lambs/goats always find a way? At least they haven't started digging yet...

I've still got a bit of parsley and celeriac leaf in the garden. If I remember to pick it when it's day light.

Still harvesting quite a lot here, leeks, carrots, parsnips, broccoli, PSB, Russian kale, savoy cabbages, spring cabbages just starting, new potatoes and the first new season tomatoes.
I have a short row of peas that have been in flower for some time and just beginning to see pods, so they won't be too long now.
All in the tunnels of course, except the tomatoes which are in the window next to me as I type.

We've just cleared the last of the leeks this weekend. Last cabbage too. Still some kale on the go and it looks as if the last three PSB plants still standing are going to produce (gales permitting). All outside.

I wholeheartedly agree Flo, that's one of the disadvantages of living on a peninsula stuck out in the Atlantic.
It seems like nearly all of 2020 so far has been almost continuous gale force winds with rain every day.
Its all very well growing stuff in greenhouses and polytunnels, and even though it's only a few yards walk to them, it's still unpleasant enough to find much more interesting things to do indoors.

The only problem is I've virtually given up eating rice (too many carbs).
So what do I do with it?
