TV program: aquaponics, fish & veggies

Post: # 29233Post red swirl »

Just watched a really interesting TV program on Gardening Australia (ABC TV, like BBC).

Basically, the fish wastes provide nutrients for the plants/veggies and the veggies clean the water for the fish.

Neat system, I reckon!!

Supposed to be pretty easy to setup from materials found in your local hardwarestore & recycled/reused materials. Totally organic, too.

The factsheet / story summary is at: http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s1705842.htm

and the person interviewed's site is: http://members.iinet.net.au/~jmalcolm/index.htm

Yep, Red, its called aquaculture. There is some more about it on the Aussies living simply forum. There is a guy there who has done it in his backyard and written an article about it.
