Tomato disaster

Post: # 286103Post Odsox »

After deciding to grow winter tomatoes again, it has just about ended in disaster.
I used potting compost that I had re-wetted with rainwater and it seems I introduced some sort of fungal disease. It affected the bottom leaves of the young plants but I left them growing thinking they would "grow out" of it, the leaves further away from the compost would be less likely to succumb.
But I was wrong and have finally admitted defeat. I've moved them into an empty conservatory so that the pathetically small fruit can ripen and at least get something out of it all.

Meanwhile, seeing a disaster looming, I sowed some Stupice tomato seed to replace them, with fresh compost of course and they are coming along nicely, but I estimate I won't get any ripe fruit until the end of March.
Best laid plans .. and all that.
