I finally snapped!

Post: # 28287Post Martin »

a few moments ago, I staggered into the garden, weapon at the ready, and crept up on a whole bunch of them, and let fly..........hundreds dead! I do feel better! :geek:
Having been royally feasted upon for the last few evenings by some particularly nasty mosquitoes - the little sods that wait until you're nearly asleep, then launch their kamikaze attack - causing you to snap the light on, and leap blearily about on the bed with a rolled up newspaper.......several times!!!!!!!! :?
I discovered that our kitchen light had attracted a picture window COVERED in the little swine...........a swift rootle in the cupboards produced a spray bottle of organic bug spray based on plant oils.........the rest as they say, is history!!!!!!
Wanders off to Hendrix track, large cigar in hand, murmuring "the smell of bug spray in the morning!!!"............(for Apocalypse Now fans) :drunken:

are you near a water source or something mate? I don't seem to get bitten much, in fact I only seem to get bitten once a week when I have a hangover :drunken:

Ditches are bad news. When we lived in the Netherlands we were plagued by giant mosquitos. Thankfully they mostly bit my husband!

Now I get bitten by everything BUT mosquitos! There are so many nasty biting critters out there. :(

it's called "growing success bug killer" - which apparently contains natural plant oils, and is supposed to work against greenfly, whitefly, blackfly, red spider mite thrips and scale, and harmless to bees, ladybirds and lavewings! 8)
and VERY effective on mosquitoes!

You should make more of an effort to get home rather than sleeping in the hedge.

Now see... here's ya problem...

You folks don't have vegemite!

When the mozzies hover, we go make ourselves some toast or a sanger, because we clearly do not have enough iron in our systems and need a bit of a hit...

Vegemite each day, keeps those mozzies away mate!

We do have marmite and my good freind John is a fiend for it. He has tried all the yeast extract spreads including vegimite and stil says that marmite is the superior.

We can get hold of vegimite over here in some shops too.

Marmite?

No, no, no.... ugh...such disrespect for ones taste buds is unforgiveable.

My son bought a citronella based air freshner type thing in wilko which keeps them out of his room at night when he has the light off and the PC monitor glowing.

Boots, OF COURSE we have vegemite!!! In fact, I have some in the cupboard right now. It's probably been the same jar for the past 5 years or so - I like it, but not that much...

And Martin - you don't mention the effect of the spray on Scottish midgies. I suppose, if it did work on them, they would have put it on the tin in large print... Those buggers really spoil all the fun of summer nights! And I'm even not really anywhere near water.
