Dave told me aboutpandora.com an internet radio station that predicts what sort of music you will like after you let it know a band or two. It is pretty good and seems to open you up to a wide range of music that you would not normally listen to.
It is only licensed for use in the usa and you have to put in a USA zip code. I am a resident ofchicago afterall.
not really anything to do with ssish but good to have something in the background whilst at the computer.

Hmm...
Seems to have had a mention in this thread too - second post down.
It's certainly expanded since then, and you can now read some pretty good biographies of who you are listening to. And they still haven't started putting ads on it, so I'm buggered if I can figure out how they finance it.
Since The Album Zone (where I first heard about this site when one of the presenters mentioned it) no longer has a host, Pandora gets a lot of use here.

I bloody love this site, it can 'learn' your tastes quite well. It came up with Robyn Hitchcock for me without any prompting however it's also chosen Depeche M**e before, so doesn't always get it right.
There are links to buy the tracks and some ads so they must finance it that way. I'm sure there must be some kind of deal with record companies too.
