Brussels Sprouts

Post: # 280618Post Odsox »

Just read a BBC news item about a man who is pushing a sprout up Snowdon with his nose, all for charity of course.
The man's an idiot, but an idiot who's heart is in the right place, so good for him.

But, I have a question that (of course) the BBC don't comment on, where do you get sprouts in Wales in July ?
I know that sprouts are NOT a gourmet vegetable, but do UK supermarkets really import sprouts all summer ?

I was only thinking, a couple of weeks ago, that T***o are still selling sprouts. I don't ever remember seeing them at this time of year before - having said that I try not to see them, even in the right season. :shaking: :pukeright:

Did you know you can buy tinned brussels sprouts? My gast is totally flabbered.

Well yes I can believe that OJ, but the point I'm trying to make is ... do UK supermarkets sell sprouts in summer, and if so, who on earth BUYS sprouts in July ?

GA posted as I was writing that, well given that half the population hate sprouts and the other half only eat them for Christmas dinner, T***o must be stocking them for people to push up mountains with their noses.

Of course, it all begs the question of whether it's possible to push a sprout up a mountain without your nose.

I would think that after scraping his nose over rocky ground for four days, he will find out, Mike. :crybaby:

Hey hey - I love sprouts, and I certainly don't just eat them for Christmas! But even I wouldn't want them at this time of year.

He cheated!!!

He was wearing a protective face mask which covered his nose. Actually, then, he pushed a sprout up Snowdon using a bit of reinforced plastic. That's like circumnavigating the earth in your underpants - and everything else you'd normally wear too.

The problem with me is I grow intensively, only I tend to grow far TOO intensively.
Heaven knows how I'm going to get in there to pick them.
One day I'll learn (doubtful)
