I've been reading "The domestic Rabbit" by Sandford and within the biblical text, he says that rabbits can process Rhubarb leaves. Has anyone got any experience of this as I thought that these leaves were highly toxic for all animals.
i've lots of bunnies and leaves but I don't really want to kill of any as an experiment
Thanks
Andy

Re: rhubarb and Rabbits
my rabbits never ate the rhubarb leaves (when loose in the garden), and I never purposely fed any to them as I believed them too full of oxalic acid to be safe

Re: rhubarb and Rabbits
Talking of rabbits, do you give them seeds like wheat or oat? If so which one and why?
I simply ask because we had a rabbit for 6 weeks and I couldn't be asked to buy another lot of seeds, so she eats wheat as I feed it to the chickens... My mum used to have rabbits and always gave them oat. I wonder if it is really better for them or did she do it because her mum did it too...

Re: rhubarb and Rabbits
Well I better have a look at oats a bit closer as my doe has little ones and maybe I should feed her some oat. The little ones seam ok though, they just started pointing their nose out of the nest yesterday...
I must do more research on the subject.
