Bake Sale Coming Up And I Need Some Ideas:)

Hello everyone. Next week I get to do two of my favorite things. Volunteer and set up for the Library Book Sale(which means I get to preview the books:)) and also bake for their Bake Sale.

I need some input. Please share some of your favorite ideas and/or recipes for a Bake Sale.

My new favourite is Carrot and Orange loaf; a basic carrot cake, with orange zest, bake as normal, then 15 mins before finished, put slices of orange on top and drizzle with honey, then return to oven. The honey seeps in and is to die for. Yummy, might have to go and make another one....

I am helping at a cake sale on Sunday and am planning on making Irish Scones which are easy and delicious, hot cross buns a fragrant and fruity traditional bun and a coffee and walnut sponge with coffee icing

Try Mary Berry's lemon drizzle traybake - it is really easy to make and tastes lovely. I've made a few of them for various school events and they always go down very well. I use the foil trays you get in the £ shops to make mine so I don't have to worry about getting my tins back afterwards.

Chocolate brownies are also very popular at cake sales as are fairycakes/cupcakes. You could Easter theme them by topping with nutella-a-like from A1di or L!dl and mini choc eggs.

My favourite easy cake is banana cake with a cream cheese icing. Chocolate afghans are good too if cookies are ok for your bake sale.

I second the use of the foil trays. I always use them if I am making cakes to take outside the house.

Jaysus! I had no idea a cake sale could be so dangerous..... the sale started at 12.00 prompt, but seasoned cake sale purchasers arrived at 5 to and did a sweep of the tables to see what they liked the look of and then waited like sentinels, elbows out, purse tucked under arm waiting to pounce the minute the sale started, there was nearly a major punch up over a fresh cream pavlova and I now realise old ladies have sticks not to help them walk, but to trip up and disarm younger women, I will need to wear some protective gear next time, maybe a crash helmet and armadillo clothing
