How do people?

I'm Shane, after thinking about this a lot I've finally decided to go for it and convert my back garden to try and support myself, to some extent. (Too many hours of river cottage and a boring back garden

Well I've just made my first patch ready to grow some produce and took delivery of 4 Amberline hens, Heather, Hetty, Beatrice & Megg, who have started to leave me lovely little presents each morning.

I'm hoping to do a little more but obviously, one step at a time.

I work for Hartlepool Borough Councils Recycling Department and it's great to be able to meet residents and advise them on even the smallest ideas. Well thats when I meet the ones that aren't so ignorant and lazy that they think it's MY job to sort their rubbish out and recycle it for them. But anyway thats me rambling on lol.

Well catch you guys around here

Shane

Hello there Shane.

I can sympathsise to a small extent. Bristol is just starting a bigger recyling scheme. Rubbish to be collect once a fortnight and recycling weekly. There is a LOCKABLE kitchen waste bin and there have been complaints that the idea is a disaster as there has been an increase in the rat population. I did not know that rats could unlock things.

thats my ramble over too  welcome to the forum.

HI Shane, and welcome!
It's great to have an "official" recycling specialist on board! Yeah, I know that attitude too... I'll recycle, but only if you come and sort it for me!

Hi Shane. Yeah, lots of people are keen to save the planet as long as it doesn't mean actually doing anything different than they are doing already. I get quite cross when you see articles and adverts aimed at people like that "Change your car to LPG, we promise it will cost the same and have exactly the same performance and your car will still look cool", or "Turn down your thermostat just a little tiny bit. You'll still be able to wear t-shirts and flip-flops indoors in winter but it will help save the planet a little bit", or from the council "Please, please, please will you recycle more? How about if we come and collect it and sort it and take it away every single day and give you a free nice-coloured [non-biodegradable] wheely bin to put it in? Pretty please with a cherry on top?". Bah, just do it people, or else tell your grandkids "Sorry the planet is trashed, but I couldn't be ****d to sort the glass from the plastic".
