Sweeter onions
Did you know that the closer to the equator an Onion is grown the sweeter it is?
I heard Antony Warral Thompson saying it once on Ready Steady Cook he did not say why though. Perhaps more sunlight?

He was probably only trying to justify flying em in at great expense and pollution.
I was in the local supermarket earlier this year and there were two sorts of red onions.
Unless you looked closely you would not have noticed that one lot was from Australia, the others from Cambridge.
I mean bloody Australia!. should have done a taste test to see which was sweeter

It's not easy being Cheezy
So you know how great Salsify is as a veg, what about Cavero Nero,great leaves all through the winter , then in Spring sprouting broccolli like flowers! Takes up half as much room as broccolli

Hmm, I also remember a Greek kid when I was at school back in Oz, He used to eat raw onions, but the downside was that the rest of the kids changed his name from Nicholas Theodore to "Nickel Arse the Odour"!!!
