Some of my 2nd earlies have got blight since it rained last week. It isn't particularly bad and they have been growing for a bit more than 90 days and are just about finished flowering now.
So, (1) do I just cut off the haulms of the infected plants, or all of them? and (2) can I leave the spuds in the ground for the time being, as I wasn't ready to start digging them up yet - still got to get thru the 1st earlies!
Potato Blight - now what?

Not too sure M3, but when I got a problem like this it went down into the spuds, I suspect that harvesting them sooner rather than later is a good idea!

Remove the infected haulms immediately. If there is absolutely no infection on other haulms, then spray immediatey with bordeaux mixture (or suitable fungicides if you're not organic) and monitor closely for a few days.
If more blight appears, then the infection is not localised and you'll have to remove all the haulms ASAP.
Ideally, you'd get all the infected haulms off before it rains and burn them all. If you can do this, you should be able to save the potatoes, but if it rains and washes off the spores, then you're likely to lose the crop.
Good luck.

So I Google potato blight and up comes 'Irish potato famine'. Duh, of course it affects the spuds!!
Dug up half a row yesterday. Nice little new potatoes, but there won't be anything for baking/roasting this year. Boo hoo.
Do you know if this blight is the same as tomato blight, or is that a different blight? Cos if I get tomato blight this year (got it last) I will be very cross (that is the polite word!).
