hello from Scotland!

Post: # 26305Post Kirstykbart »

Hi,

my name is Kirsty and I live in Falkirk in Central Scotland. For the first time in my life I have room to grow things having moved to a farm house from a small terraced house. We don't have acres of land, but enough for a huge veggie patch and hopefully a soft fruit area too. I'd really love chickens one day, but it's a lot to think about.

Really love the site!

Kirsty

Hi Kirksty, welcome to the site, I am on here sporadically, the advice is great. I live just down the road from you in Stirling, just where the Wallace Monumment is. I have a veg patch and am in the process of organising myself to get some chickens!

Hi Kirsty

Like you, I haven't quite got round to the chickens yet... But I will, one day!

Anyway, welcome to another Scot.

We just got chickens a couple of weeks ago and I strongly recommend them. It's not really a lot to think about. I mean, if you fancied getting a rabbit you wouldn't go "Oh, I dunno, it's a lot to think about". But that's just because you know people who have a rabbit. You may have had a rabbit yourself a few years ago. So you know what's involved.

Well chickens are no more bother than a rabbit. Plus you get eggs. I've turned into a real chicken evangelist and already one of my neighbours is building a henhouse. This time next year I bet half the street will have them.
