So happy!!

*Runs around house in an excited manner*

How awesome are vegetables!?!?!

With one thing or another, (run up to wedding, kids, rubbish weather, toddler who turns into the Tasmanian Devil when he's in the garden, work, slugs and so on) my veggie patch has gotten a little, teeny bit overgrown. I could just about see the beans and peas that had survived, mainly thanks to the teepee and frame, and the brussels are doing fabulous... everything else that had been planted out, I'd written off.

Yesterday and today have provided sunshine and I've finally chopped back all the mallow, brambles, out-of-control coriander, fat hen and everything else. Still some to do, but I've been amazed by what has survived underneath it all. The shallots all look healthy, got very confused by carrots until I remembered my daughters had planted some, beetroot and even more tomato plants, a couple of cucumber plants which both look a little sorry for themselves at the moment.

Still going to be looking at purchasing a polytunnel/greenhouse for the area next year, if we're still here. But so happy it's nowhere near as bad as I thought.

I was going to say that the veg never lets you down, but it does on occasion!!

That being said It is all worth it when you uncover a surprise crop that you thought wasn't going anywhere.

I'm also with you on the polytunnel idea!! albeit I would be careful about the *running around in an excited manner bit* unless it is in a big polytunnel !! :)
