Ok! I spent six months in Göteborg last year, but I would really like to put in a good word for Malmö, especially if you're into alternative lifestyles, cultural diversity, art and vegetarian food. It's a bit like Berlin - very alternative-friendly!
Dragonfly Festival is an ambient arts festival outside Falköping, about an hour's train ride from Göteborg. Unfortunately I missed it last year because I overslept. We were a bit over-optimistic about driving 1000 km from Germany, getting six hours of sleep and then getting up to go to a festival. It wasn't going to happen. But I'm very determined to visit this year! They hold it in an outdoor museum with rebuilt villages from prehistoric ages. There's lots of good music by bands and musicians who play for free, workshops by artists and others, a few film screenings, vendors selling a bit of this and that and, of course, you can get your tickets for free if you're willing to help out a bit! I think it's probably worth a visit or two.
