Is life really worth it after high school?
Is life really worth it after high school?
I'm 15 and it seems like I'm one the few kids at my school that doesn't want to grow up. It really frightens me, I'm afraid that I'll end up with some dead end job being a middle class nobody who hates his life and is never happy. I really don't want to end up like that. I just think life will be all down hill after high school, like right now I'm having a great time in high school with my friends, sports, my band, and girl. But I know I won't be a professional athlete when I'm older, and my band probably won't make it big. I'm also afraid that girls won't like me after high school, since there's that stereotype of guys that get girls in high school will end up as losers after high school. I'm also don't understand how people make friends when they're older, are you supposed to make friends at work or what? The dating scene for young adults just seems awful these days too, I don't want to be some clubber when I'm like 25 and end up marrying some girl that I don't really love or get a divorce because I see that a lot happening with people I know. So what I really want to know is life exciting at all once you're done with school? Because it just seems terrible after high school

I'm 25, my life at school was not good as yours sounds but I love life now. I have all I wanted am really happy and still find excitement and enjoyment in new thing.
If you're happy at the moment I'd just focus on that, worrying about the future is not going to help you then or now. Life is not like stereotypes or the TV as Im sure you know. You are responsible for your own choices in life. If your not happy in a job, look for a new one, if you don't love a woman, don't marry her. It really is that simple.
In my opinion you won't end up in a situation you don't want to be because you already are aware of the situation. And if you do, then do something about it. So many people are miserable but just do nothing but moan, it's perfectly possible to change your life so you are happy.
My husband is friends with people he works with, the husbands of my friends and still some of the guys he went to school with. If life after school is so bad how do you think people cope?
I didn't have a plan after school, no career I wanted, no job I was going straight into, I wasn't ready to travel. I just went with it. Things turn up, your plans change, your wants change and you change as a person. You will be fine.
Where are you from?

Spam like this really drives me nuts. I'll admit to being tempted to just bin the whole thread.

I'm sure I'm being naive here - I did even say to my husband it sounded an odd thread but I replied because I had a tough time at school so on the off chance I can reassure someone it was worth it - but how is this spam?

Well, I'm going back down the garden to try and get the mowing finished.oldjerry wrote:Where are we all going to.....??
No I don't think so, a Thermos might be a better idea, but I plan to be back before dinner.oldjerry wrote:most importantly.....Should we take sandwiches??
Oh, you mean life, 42 and all that ?
Sorry too deep for this 15 year old.

I was the link (now removed) at the end of the post that gave it away.Pumpkin&Piglet wrote:I'm sure I'm being naive here - I did even say to my husband it sounded an odd thread but I replied because I had a tough time at school so on the off chance I can reassure someone it was worth it - but how is this spam?

As Dunc says, the ad on the bottom is one giveaway, the other is that it's their first post - Ish isn't really the place where youth would offload their problems re adolescence. Quite often they rip off chunks of text from books, articles or other posts elsewhere online, although we usually get vaguely "green" stuff rather than this guff.Pumpkin&Piglet wrote:how is this spam?
P+P they can be difficult to spot (as mods we have the added benefit of being able to check if they've been reported as spammers elsewhere) and any pleas from teenagers can tug the heartstrings. Go with your gut reaction - if it looks odd it probably is - we're zapping these blighters all the time!

Hi P&P, don't worry, you're not the only one. I started to read it and felt really sorry for the poor kid until I saw the mods' note at the bottom. It's good we have such clever mods to keep us all neat and tidy.

I thought maybe it was just lifted out of Blair's diary circa 1975.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.
