Melon wine

Post: # 25525Post Kfish »

Does anyone here have a recipe for melon wine?

I have a glut of jam melons (like watermelons, only tough and white inside) because they grow like bloody weeds, and have filled the cupboard with chutneys and jams already!

If anyone has tried making wine with rockmelons, watermelons or other similar fruit, I would be very interested in hearing about their experiences.

Kfish.

Not tried melon wine, could be interesting. I imagine it would have a fairly 'thin' taste, due to the wateryness of the flesh. You could add grape concentrate/juice/dried fruit to beef it up a bit.

Maybe u could try making it like the pumpkin wine and dissolving sugar inside it? Link here: www.red4.co.uk/recipes/pumpkin-wine.htm

My uncle told me about filling a melon with vodka - cant remember exactly how it went but need like 1/2 litre and inject it into the melon, then leave in the fridge for week or so, slice it up and eat it - supposed to be very good :drunken:
