Nettles' revenge

Post: # 25111Post Stonehead »

I've been eating, drinking and slashing nettles for a couple of years now, but they finally got their revenge last night.

I was out doing some work around the chicken run, when I tripped and fell, right arm first, into a thicket of very, very strong nettles. Within seconds I had white blisters up to my elbow and all over my hand.

There was plenty of dock as well, so I crunched up a few leaves and eased the stinging. It didn't seem too bad last night (okay, just on the tolerable side of excruciating), but it is really bad this morning.

There's no swelling or blisters, but my right hand and arm are constantly twitching, stinging and buzzing. Ouch!

Oh, and as for the folklore about stinging nettles being good for arthritis... it's probably true that having your joints swatted with nettles relieves the symptoms because the stinging would definitely take your mind off it!!
