carnation milk
Does my memory serve me right or am i thinking of something else, can you boil up a can of carnation milk and turn it into some form of toffee/caramel type stuff, i remember seeing something years ago but just can't put my finger on it.............help please

I think it has to be condensed, rather than evaporated, milk, Russ. Carnation do both, but they're more famous (in the UK at least) for evaporated.

OMG thank you for that, that looks like the kind of fudge I like, all grainy and not chewy like those 'souvenir of xxx place' type fudge (if you know what I mean). I bought a tin of that Carnation caramel a few years ago when in England, didn't know what to do with it so it sat in the cupboard for ages, eventually made some sickly creation out of it, then realised it was the same thing as dulce de leche, which is the same thing as confiture de lait..... which is sold everywhere here. Duh!

You don't have to buy Nestle's 'Nestles Milk', even in France our supermarket has its own brand condensed milk!
