I am considering buying some garlic bulbs to plant. I know I can just save and replant the biggest cloves, I did this last year and am still eating them. Will probably re-plant some too as I am saving the biggest bulbs. Guess this time of year we are all thinking about what to do differently, and I was wondering about comparing the 'proper' shop brought cloves with my saved ones.
But, I am not happy with the online options; Garden Organic doesnt have many options and all the stuff that comes up on search engines are the regular [non organic, super commercial] sites. I am looking to do something a little more local/small business/ethical, maybe organic etc.
Any suggestions please ?

There's always Tamar Organics, but they don't have much more than the OGC and they're all sold out for this year already.

I bought some Isle of Wight raised bulbs many years ago and have been growing their offspring ever since.
If you're happy with your this year's crop ... why change ?

I didn't get around to buying garlic or shallots this year and now there are none.
Have decided to have a go with some supermarket ones. Anyone tried?

Yes, but with disappointing results, although you will get some cloves where you wouldn't otherwise ... if you see what I mean.
Most supermarket garlic is grown in warmer climates (mainly China) and might not grow so well in the UK.

Thanks I'll give it a go anyway. My shallots, at least, are British.
