Post: # 24853Post the woodmaiden »

Uber Novice that I am lol!~ I didnt realise that you planted spuds at the same time,I thought I would dig up my earlies & then plant maincrop & THEN plant lates... dad informed me this not the case lol & I should have planted main & late months ago sigh! Someone sent me a link of late croppers but I have no idea what variety to go for?as would be digging up in December I want summit I can roast & bake & boil, some of them mention they are salad/new spuds but the others dont say anything.
The varieties offered are
Carlingford
Maris Peer
Nicola
Juilette & Charlotte altho thse 2 mention salad & new so not so keen on these, has anyone tried the others?
Blimey talk about learning as I go.......

Hey woodmaiden
We've only just put spuds in the ground - earlies and maincrop, so you don't win the award for most tardy novice! Have been reliably informed by Andy (see 'is it too late' thread) that you can still plant spuds for a crop on Christmas Day, so I guess as long as we look after them over the frosts, we may be lucky!
My maincrop are Maris Piper (good for baking) - and if they don't survive the cold weather I intend to eat as new pots.

We are also quite tardy in our planting! Incidentally you can roast new poatoes with a little garlic, I find them very nice :-)
