Starting to realise just how expensive it can be to own a house. The plumbing breaks, you fix it!

Oh, I've so been there ;-). (Although, also, it breaks, you codge it up in a crap but liveable way, you fix it 5 years later ;-) ).

Also, I've got woodchip.

Congratulations!!! . Also, I volunteer at a place which has decorated one of its walls with the most fabulous giraffe mural which was apparently £20 on the internet. I can't have one because we have no big walls ++ woodchip, but, if you have a big ugly smoothish wall you want to cover up, could I recommend the giraffe mural to you and I can do it vicariously.

I've bought 5 houses now and it's definitely got a lot harder than it used to be. My record was a house sale that went through in 4 weeks! Nowadays you wouldn't think it could ever have been possible.

About 6-7 weeks was the time it took to purchase my current house and I count myself lucky at that. Anyway, congratulations Andy: enjoy!

I closed the deal and moved in ...in 2 weeks.

Actually, fair point I think the veg patches, foraging will save some cash but the massive difference between rent and mortgague will save even more! and actually, up here on the hill it does feel like a castle

Ahh! Nothing like buying your first house! We are still in ours - 10 years, a marriage and two kids down the line, it's high time we moved actually but the whole thought of getting it Market ready and looking for a new property fills me with dread.

We'll have to move at some point as we're rapidly running out of space as the girls grow bigger. But we want our next move to be our last - real family home territory so it might take a while!
