Hey Grandad

Post: # 24512Post Boots »

Just thought I'd say hi.

Am grinning cos I figure you are too. These folks are always in a rush, eh?
Fathers day in June? Be buggered... I never thought they might have a different date. But figure you knew that... I miss being able to ask you stuff, just like that. All my dumb questions that you handled so patiently. Never any rolling eyes. Never any judgements. Just a thoughtful answer. So how come? Why isn't it an international day? What happens to Aussies whose Dad's are still in the UK then? Do they send two cards or what?

Figure you're cruising up there. Can't imagine for the life of me what you'd be up to. Just know you're smiling down on us...

Love ya Grandad!

Oh, and while I'm here... How the heck do I get the caulking out of these ruddy windows?

Boots..

That message made me laugh and cry at the same time... you have one heck of a way with words mate.

Your grandad sounds just like mine was... very special indeed.

Yeah Shirlz. He was one very special man. It is good to think of him, because whenever I do, it reminds me to practice patience and smile. He shared those things with me for 30 years and never withheld them.

Can't say that about anyone else I've ever met, I don't think.

And he lived such a long time and through so much... 93 years... 2 wars... the new country... he loved the sea and couldn't swim...
