Hi, its come to that stage of DS3's life where he wants to sit with us at meal times. We don't have ordinary chairs so the cloth seats aren't any use. We're off to scour the shops at the weekend but doesn anyone know of a manufacturer of enviromentally friendly high chairs? I've looked on the internet but no luck - a few being sold by 'green' retailers but not eco at all!
Recycled wood preferably but wood from a renewable source of not, plus ecopaint and no plastic seating.
(I'd rather not 'advertise' for one on freecycle..seems to be a lot of 'WANTS' lately....)

I may be lynched as I don't know properly, but Ikea do some wood high chairs, and I THINK they are keen on sustainable forests etc.
I got my high chair second (third, fourth???) hand from an NCT sale, and it was a complete bargain, and although plastioc, recycled and did everything I could possibly want except being self cleaning and actually feeding the bairn. NCT does help people with baby problems, so I was quite happy to spend my meagre cash there. Depends where you are if you have a well attended (and therefore lucrative bring and buy) membership.
This is off top of head, and have done no homework so don't know if NCT sponser the smacking of wild animals, or if Ikea is evil war donator or anything.
hope you find something - meal times are so much easier when they are strapped down, sorry, in.
Susan

There is an NCT sale on this weekend actually but I think it's in Aberdeen... that said, the farmers' market is also on this weekend so it might be worth a trip in.
Just checked... it's at Harlaw Academy on Albyn Place, on Saturday 24th June 2pm. Entrance costs £1
Have a look in the local paper (we'll get the piper this week so don't buy it specially) to see if there are any local humpty dumpty type sales... a great way of earning a bit of cash on your own baby bits and pieces too.
We've got the trip-trap for Jonathan... not sure of it's green credentials.. it's wooden and will last him until it falls to pieces.. I sit in it too sometimes, it's designed to be used from baby to adult so in my eyes that makes it rather green!! Very Comfy but pricey. Check ebay.
Really don't think this one is suitable until baby can sit unaided.... Have a look at mine when you come over tomorrow and see what you think.

Some good suggestions both. I knew about the NCT sale and we're having a look there on saturday on way to reconditioned electricals place on Rosemount for a new cooker but from past experience, its usually plastic ones that end up for resale and we definitely don't want plastic. Atthe moment I am feeding him on my knee so I end up with bits of pear and rice cake stuffed in places even i didnt know existed

Forgot to say - TrippTrapp - absolutely gorgeous but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of our price range
