onions!

Does anyone know if I have to pile up the earth round my onions as they grow? Also I have potatos growing between them, from the previous plot holder! Are they symbiotic or should I up root them?!

I've got the same problem with onions and tatties growing amongst them - pull them out, or soon you won't be able to find your onions anymore. Also, don't throw the potatoes and -greens on your compost; they might just have a touch of blight on them from last year, and carry it on - hard to get rid of once you have it in your soil.
Onions don't need earthing up.
