Tree Spinach
Has anyone grown this? Someone on my allotments is growing it and it was completely new to me, very pretty, but is it any good? I like trying new things, but don't want to waste my time. pbf.

Re: Tree Spinach
I think it is fantastic. The only problem now is that it has grown so well that it is shielding other parts of the garden and I can't eat it fast enough to keep up. I will definitely grow it again next year, although I might grow in small stands rather than a long row. Perhaps the fellow allotment owner could spare you a few leaves to try?

Yes - after giving it a good wash (keep the water for putting on the garden - that way you aren't wasting any water but won't skimp on getting any dirt and critters out), you can boil, steam and anything else you might do with spinach. Younger leaves could also be eaten raw.prison break fan wrote:They have already offered wulf! Do you cook it just like ordinary spinach? pbf.
My other tip is that the stalks are also edible. Bend them like you would asparagus and break off the soft part. That can be cooked as you would asparagus (or throw it on top of a roast to get sweet crispy "sticks"); the rest is rather fibrous and best fed to the compost heap.
