Mushroom identification site
Just found this http://www.lincstrust.org.uk/species/fungi/index.php - pretty good pictures.
Will have to invest in a new digital camera this autumn and take as many pics of mushrooms that I can, always useful to have as many sites as possible offering identification.

I've always been too scared to trust myself to make the right decision with mushroom identification - but would love to go on a fungal foray - they have these in our local park at various times of the year. Must make a point of going on the next one I see advertised.

hopefully we will have some kind of video camera to use again this autumn. We will film a few mushroom hunts and try and get some good pictures of mushrooms to help identification.

by that do you mean are some of the same mushrooms to be found in mainland europe that can be found in the UK? If this is the case then yes I believe that there are some of the same mushrooms across europe. You can always post a picture of what you want to pick (or pick) on here and see if anyone has seen it before. You will have to be 100% before you eat, especially with some mushrooms that have deadly similar mushrooms.cat wrote:are mushrooms international? I see lots here but i'm too scared to pick them!

Tried Jew's Ear in stir fries - not had it for ages, was when I lived in Bristol and went walking in the bother, forgot name - something like Ashton? estate or was it along the Frenchay paths along the river connecting two parks (found a lovely sweet smelling white bracket-y fungus along there that a fungi encyclopedia said was rare) (ex-boyf had two dogs which needed walking).
Haven't been on a fungal foray for ages, would love to go on one. I know some of the field studies council's centres run them and was at Nettlecombe court for OU course when there was one going on.
