Has anyone a recipe for fruit (particularly Plum) leathers?
No one has come to scrump my plums and there is heavy weather forecast for the weekend so I know they will all be washed off onto the path/pavement and get wasted if I don't do something quick.
Granddaughter was thrilled to eat them off the tree (and white strawberries from the back yard) but I couldn't get her Ma and Pa to take some home.
Am thinking leathers as it doesn't need jars or freezer space

From Martin Crawford's book, I have tasted these and they are really nice.
Lightly cook if fruit is firm.
Destone
Liquidise
You can thicken with ground nuts, or oatmeal etc is to runny.
Spread on a flexible non stick baking sheet and keep it at 55c fr 24 hours, may need turning in last couple of hours.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Jan.
Don't do what I did and forget to oil the baking tray or foil before you pour on the liquid
, otherwise its a bit of a waste of time. I have only used the River cottage recipe for apple and blackberry leathers but they are fab. We are all loving the white strawberries that you gave us, thank you.
