Have I said this somewhere else?

Since taking up snuff, my smoking tobacco habit has decreased by 50% - at a stroke. It hasn't been replaced by a similar snuff habit. I sniff the snuff, certainly, but a snuff sniff seems to replace several cigarettes.

Sniffing snuff seems so ... and then I ran out of s's. But it's very effective.

Good. Just blow your nose thoroughly though rather than swallowing the snuff (it's fire-cured whereas snus is air-cured)

A couple of years ago, i started a thread on Quittin' Smoking............. i've just done 2 weeks without a ciggie (this time round), so will let you know if i'm going to be one of those crashing ex-smoking bores who criticises everyone else!!
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

I know, that's why I started this one for those who wanted to carry on smoking (or talk about it) as your thread was getting a bit mixed up. Sadly your thread died a death yet this one has carried on and on. Bit sad really isn't it? (and I'm a smoker).

Well done for now Pumpy, at least you are trying. :thumbright:

Why not search for the thread and bring it up again for anyone thinking of stopping?

isn't snuff worse than cigarettes in a lot of ways? i heard it can do things to the inside of your nose (although this might just be a rumour lol).

I don't have any plans to quit. I quit while I was pregnant, but got back into the habbit when I started working again.
These days I only smoke 2 or 3 a day, and avoid smoking at all in front of my kids.

There is no medical evidence whatsoever that snuff is associated with any health problems. To be fair, even the people who cry this claim out loudly admit that the lack of evidence might be more to do with the very low number of snuff users (so no studies have been done).

Whatever - at least my nose can now share the load with my lungs, and if you look at the price of snuff, you'll see another marked advantage.

Well my Snus arrived today.

Boy was I shocked! Little T Bags of minty fags!

I have popped one under the lip, and I don't want to smoke a ciggy now.

They have that same effect of making your throat feel "tight" as the NRT chewing gum does.

Any tips please on using it, I don't want to smoke long term, or at least cut down allot, and grow it myself!

Specifically how often to you pop one in, how long do you keep it in for, do you take it out and pop it back in????

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Discovering snuff and then snus has saved my life. I tried quitting cigarettes many times and just couldn't. Now i snus i don't get out of breath and i love it more than i liked cigarettes.

Cool. See you over at Snuson! If you decide to sign up, if not just read the threads. There is a section on growing tobacco for snus too.

Sorry if this sounds a bit sexist but i think products like Stonewall are more lady-friendly:

(unless you live in Sweden where snus is widespread anyway)

and unlike Nicorette you get your MAOIs...

Okay, some people report when they first start taking it that it takes a bit of time to adjust - so i would say see how it's going in a few weeks. Or, it may be the type of snus you are using - i've heard wintergreen can be like this but i have never tried mint and only wintergreen once. SnusOn is full of advice on all the things you mention.

Secondly, once you take it out it's not the done thing to put it back in again. Plus, it would have lost most/some of its potency - you'd really then want a fresh one.

I have a snus in 95% of the the time i'm awake.
