Grow anything remotely edible when I have no garden?

As a student we grew chillies all round our house even in the bathroom!! We also sprouted mung beans and grew salad in the kitchen. In the yard we had spuds in a bucket! And tomatoes and strawberrys!!! All very random but at the time we grew enough to survive so as r grant cheques could buy us beer tockens!!! ;) oh how times have changed!!!! Xx

You can get dwarf tomoatoes that grow well in cool/low light situations - we have MicroTom (among others) over here. Just a small pot (less than 6ins diameter) on a windowsill for small, tasty toms - if you stagger the sowing (start 3 seeds in a pot every 8 weeks-thin to strongest plant) you can get them fresh almost all year round.

I don't know if you'll be able to get this link in NZ, but this gardening programme tonight showed someone with an 8ft balcony and they managed to grow 85kg of produce from it http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/video/?Filter=252325
