rethinking allotment layout

TBH I'd take cuttings, if you want it elsewhere and then get rid of the honeysuckle totally. It has enormous roots and isn't really of any value in an allotment. On the plus side, dead honeysuckle makes fantastic kindling - we're still using some from when we removed 99% or ours to make way for raised beds. We just have a tiny bit on the fence now.

have decided to go for three lonmg strips (about 12-15') strips with paths between, it's already looking more "allotmenty" and have bags of room to put my seedlings in and mustard in the extra bits.
haven't even got to the other half yet, but that's the other side of thefruit bushes and needs a haircut first anyway

it looks so much more tidy to my mind, less erratic and all i've done is joined up the beds i had! they run North-South, wondering if it would be disasterous to run the other side East-West? my neighbouring plot holders have some of each, and no indication that east west is giving them any bother?

I'd say North-South was the most sensible, but you might find you can exploit the potential shading effect of East-West to provide more successional cropping or reducing the tendency of some crops to bolt.
