What a day!

Having lived with the threat of redundancy for two years I was appointed in a restructure in Jan. Don't have a great line-manager (very lacking in emotional intelligence) and today sat through a meeting with her where she was very critical and then told me we are going into another restructure (which we're not so can only assume ill intent in the comment) and that someone else could have my job by this time next year. (She wanted one of her old team to have the post which I have). Came home, phoned a plumber who did some work for us. We have had huge problems with the work. Response I got was 'tough'. Got into heated debate with his wife on phone and she put the phone down on me (not very emotionally intelligent of me to get into a heated debate), then OH criticises me and says 'you could have handled that better', I would have said....' Told him he can deal with it himself from now on (a few other words were spoken which are probably best not repeated-again not very emotionally intelligent of me) and went for drive round the block.
Yesterday was such a good day...

What a rotten day

The problem with being an 'emotionally literate' person is that you tend to be hard on yourself whilst being extremely tolerant of other people.

Sounds to me that you behaved in a perfectly understandable way with some very difficult challenges.

Take a deep breath, go outdoors and look at something beautiful and if it will help whilst you are out giving yourself some positive affirmations we can all mutter some expletives on you behalf!

What you need is a quiet space on your own with a nice cup of tea and a decent gardening programme on the i-player (currently watching Beechgrove Garden holding a cup of tea with bedroom door firmly shut - guess I can empathise on your day!). My boss is totally emotionally missing too - usually we find some fun in it, but somedays it just wears you down.

What a stinker of a day for you, best wishes and understanding from us here . I have often wondered about having a place to go that provides you with lots of crockery to smash against a wall......plus goggles and a written disclaimer about causing personal injury etc., etc., but oh, what a good way to vent your anger .

Poor you,it's awful that your line manager can get away with treating you like that. My best antidote to an awful day is to take a flask of very good coffee to my allotment,sit and listen to the birds for a while,then find a patch and do some serious digging over. It really gets rid of frustration x

I know what you mean about the rain-I am also looking forward to the rain (never thought I would hear myself say that) and hopefully all the gardens, allotments and fields will get a long overdue watering!
