Lovely pictures! We don't see a lot of young birds as we have loads of cats in the area ,one of them is ours and he has been known to bring in his catch.
I was a retouching artist 20 years ago. Now its all done digitally.
My OH was a duper but now does the same job I did but he does it on computer and probably about 10 times as fast.

Thing is, now most people know someone in their family who can get a good picture with a decent digital camera ,they can take hundreds of pictures and choose the best 20 and its so much easier to colour correct and crop etc. Years ago , it would have meant being able to process and print your own colour negs as well as get a good selection of pictures from a few rolls of film.

you've got it in one! - there are still a few families who will invest in a "set" of proper wedding photos, but increasingly less do! This year, although I do have digital equipment, I'll still be using film for weddings, it has a special "feel". I've been doing "reportage" for years - all the traditional shots, plus lots of informal and "aside" shots (page boy picking nose etc) - I take around 400, get them all done to 8x6 - give the lot to the couple, and mount probably around 150 of them in a traditional album :dave:

Wow I can't believe people would skimp and not get a professional photographer for their wedding. Getting the right photographer was the most important thing to me. Luckily my Dad is a keen amateur photographer and was able to come with me to see photographer's work til we found who was perfect.

I love sitting in and looking through my wedding album - brings back all the happy memories.

That's sad if you are losing out on work.

I got an SLR a few years ago with money after my Grandma died - her last gift to me if you will. Unfortunately it was just about the time digital was taking off so now it's a bit obsolete. The problem is that I'm not good enough yet to get good photographs without lots of expermentation and mistakes which can get very pricey when using film so I hope to upgrade to a digital SLR some day.

Do you ever frame your photographs and display them in the house?

I've got a digital SLR but it doesn't get used as often as I would like... mainly due to the fact that it's heavy and takes time to use properly... Not a problem as such, but most of the time I'm limited to snapshots because I've generally got smallstuff with me... he's a bit impatient and oft I'm taking pics with him dragging at my sleeve. Great for the modern art type pics...

Perhaps we should have a folder where we can share our pics (via photobucket or whatever hosting place..) would be lovely to look at lots of pics that we've all taken, and perhaps those professionals amongst us could even give hints and tips if requested  I'm sooooooooooo cheeky LOL

I DO love taking pics though - I've got thousands of digital ones on my puter and I must really get them sorted and burn them all to dvd - would probably make my computer work faster too.

what you'll be wanting is "Coppermine" - here's one I did earlier - http://www.farmco.co.uk/coppermine/ - it's great, you can vote and comment on pictures, send them as ecards - all sorts of skins and configurations are possible! 8)
