Does anyone grow olives?

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

I totally agree, nightowl. And we still haven't got a predictable, dependable olive which will fruit under UK conditions. OK - maybe we're getting there. But I still wouldn't plant any olive here for any other reason than amusement.

We've had an olive tree for years, always had a few blossoms that blew off in the wind, never had a single fruit off it!
Then the last winter did it in for good and it hasn't come back to life sadly.
Still keep it though as the garden birds like to land on its twigs :)
