How do i find a decent co-housing project / eco-village?

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

How do i find a decent co-housing project / eco-village?

I'm interested in co-housing or living in an eco-village but scared of cohabiting with anyone too fanatical or finding the place a bit like a religious sect. Anyone know of any good places or direct me to some websites that may be of use. Overseas ideally, but preferably not too far away. Thanks.

don´t know if they do have eco-villages, but have a look at http://www.helpex.net , or wwoof.org . It may give you somewhere to start from!

The first may be better as wide variety of types of places, whereas wwoof, is just ( meant to be ) organic farms......
and apart from that the helpex site allows you to see quiteabit more info on each place before joining

Thank you. A really good site - kinda looking for something overseas if possible though.
