We've had quite a bit too, but mixed with hailstones and VERY cold. Not sure how much good it has done overall.

i was up at the plot this morning when it was really not trying to rain, but it's just been a total downpour, thunder and everything Whooopppppeeeee! XD

It rainded yesterday and I was glad as it meant I didn't have to spend an hour watering. Back to usual today though and the weather forecast is for no rain for the weekend and the whole of next week.
I need rain!

We've had a bit here too. Not really enough to get the garden back on track but at least enough to fill the water buts.

Harumph. We had 1.5mm which is barely a trickle in the waterbutts. To put that amount into perspective 10mm soaks about one inch into the soil. Need about 20mm just to get to the grass roots let alone beneath that to the roots of everything else.

have some of ours - it's pi$hed it down for 3 weeks here - blew 110mph on Monday, hailstone showers and been cold.
Loads of trees down across the area, something like 40+ yachts broke there moorings and washed up on the shore on the west coast. All the trees and plants in my (and everyone elses here) gardens are wind scorched - fingers crossed they make a bit of recovery

Wow sorry to hear that Fruitcake, sounds as though you're having it really bad. Now I know why I wouldn't want to live any further North than Lincolnshire

Though if I'm being honest Lincolnshire is far too North for me, I can't wait to move back down South. Yes I know I'm a Southern Softie at heart

It's still playing at it here, nothing significant as yet, we had a few heavy showers two days ago but the rest has been so light that the winds dried the soil before it's had a chance to soak in!

Seems to be the east of England all the way up to the north and also south west England cos my rellies in Notts and Somerset are all complaining about how dry it is.

Sorry about your weather fruitcake - I was annoyed enough that the wind snapped two branches off my spud plants but that's a bit pathetic compared to your wind.

Here we have had a couple of token rainfalls but nothing like what is needed to get the allotment really soaked. However...the weeds seem to have had enough to put on a great growth spurt! or is it just my imagination that weeds need less water to thrive than the fruit and veg??

We are now enjoying a good steady downfall for the first time in nearly 3 months, it's been going for the last 2 hours & if it keeps going for the next 48, it would really do some good!

We've just had 24 hours of continuous rain (and a couple of days of showers before that). It's stopped now, and the garden is once again smelling like a garden. Everything is picking heads up again. Could be a good sign. According to what was in a couple of large but empty containers and the wheelbarrow, I reckon we've had between 2 and 3 inches.

As I was totally unable to do any work in the garden, I've been forced to resort to making more wine. Sad, isn't it?

I really sympathise with you Mike, i'm having to resort to making 4 gallons of cider...... what a terrible situation to be in.

An hour of steady light rain = 2mm - barely worth it bothering to rain. I think everyone should have a rain gauge as what might look like several inches in a bucket (or rain gauge) actually equates to about 5 - 10mm usually, which is zilch if it has been really dry.

What you need to do is dig down and see how far the rain has penetrated to know whether it has done any good.
