hello
Hello. I've been reading this forum for a few months and now we've moved house ( and country) I've decided to join. We've always dabbled in growing a few veg, a couple of apple trees and trying to recycle etc. We had 3 solar panels in the UK but they didn't seem to generate much power. We're now in the southern Vendee, France and have generated about 20 kw of power in 3 weeks from the same 3 panels, first lot of potatoes are in the ground, I'm trying to get about 2 hours digging done each day to get more land ready for veg planting. I thought I was reasonably fit but obviously I'm not! This change in lifestyle is brilliant but hard work on my poor sedentary body. Any tips for how to cope with the physical demands of this new lifestyle will be appreciated.

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hello
Hi, I have a tiny council allotment that I'm currently planting up for the 3rd year. When I took over it was just grass and compacted clay, so I'm pleased that after lots of composting and digging and WEEDING COUCH GRASS
the soil has improved. I hope that in time I'll be able to graduate to a larger plot. Otherwise I just try to be generally frugal and resourceful and green-ish. I'm on a very low income but enjoy working out solutions. I've had some great ideas from this site, including the modern-style hay box insulated with polystyrene.

Thank you for your welcome messages. A thunderstorm has stopped work for nowhich is a good thing if I want to be able to move tomorrow.
Tonight I'm hoping to read up on crop rotation. Not sure whether to go for a 4 year cycle or something else.
