Just found your fab web site - think I could get hooked!

I am an eco school coordinator at a very small independent school for naughty naughty kids. Love it! Only been there since Jan but have been developing an allotment and outside classroom with pond. So far so unvandalised. I'm on a HUGE learning curve, seems to be going down well.

Already found massess of useful info, thanks!

Hi Philly and welcome. I wish we could have had stuff like that at school - I guess I wasn't naughty enough!

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

Yes, I agree with MMM - every school should have something like what you are doing, not just the ones for "difficult" children...

Hi Philly!!!

Great to have you here :)

Ina. Eco schools are not just restricted to naughty kids ... the last primary that my son was at in Hay on wye was an eco school...

Have a look at this site... http://www.eco-schools.org.uk/ there are even grants of up to £15k to persuade schools to take up the eco gauntlet!!!

I will be talking to Jonathan's school to push for this - no doubt will end up being involved in it too YAY.

Hope you've got lots of eco school tips then Philly ;))

Ah, I think I slightly misunderstood...

I thought Philly was the coordinator for the eco education for schools for naughty kids - not the coordinator for eco schools... The English language is full of these opportunities for mis-interpretation.

I'll have a look at that link later, when I have more time. Sounds very interesting, though.

I don't think she was the only one who was confused. In any case, I think what most of us were saying was that we would have liked an eco co-ordinator at our schools, whether we were naughty or not!

Nice to start a debate, if only about how confusing I am!

I have a question. My friend is converting a barn and wants to use sheep wool for insulation. Apparently it has to go through lots of horrible chemical treatment, then get another expensive certification. Any ideas of ways around this?

Unfortunately no; but if you find out, let us know, because I'd love to do that, too! Plenty of wool around here...
