If its only been in a year it can't be that big - can it :dontknow:

As long as you make sure you dig it out properly i.e. with all its roots I'm quite sure it will be OK to transplant it but if you're not that keen on it maybe give it away to a good home

well I dont know how big they get... but biggest, is a fraction under 1 m tall, and about same spread, next one is a bit smallerat about 86cm....... the other lot ( 2 plants, abnout 30 x40. thnk they might be a different variety!

Ironically, the biggest one, I didnt e xpect to make it, as the dog rather enthusiastically weed on it a few times when first in, and the cats had a go at it too!

The space could be better utilised anyway, but where they are, unfortunately it means too much brushing against them , releasing the scent.which brings on painful memories, so need moving, if poss, but need to go!

MIght keep the smallest as they are ok, cant really be accidentally touched.

How deep do the roots go? do they spread a lot too?

Hi Niknik,
You can move lavender and use the move to multiply your bushes! Dig a hole at least 6" deeper than the existing root ball, break up the subsoil and add a small amount of compost. (The bottom of the hole should still be 6" deeper than the root ball). Place your lavender into the hole and earth up to ground level, covering the stems as you go. Water in well.

Leave in situ for 1 season then uproot it again. The bush should have developed roots from the buried stems and can be cut free from the original root ball to establish new bushes. This is how it's done in the lavender fields because it produces mature cuttings which flower readily at a good height.
Time flies like an arrow; vinegar flies like an uncovered wine must.
