Sick chicken ?

Post: # 226453Post sarahkeast »

So one of my chooks is a bit off colour. She has been like it for a week or so, just wanted any ideas please.

Basically she seems suppressed and spends most of her time all puffed up like a blowfish. She is eating/drinking, doesnt feel unusually fat/blocked at the back end [altho tends to be a little mucky] I have restricted the chooks into their slightly muddy run now as they were wrecking the garden, but let them out onto the green in front of the house each day for a bit of grass. This chook just heads back in as soon as she gets out there, no interest in scratching around or traumatising the dog who is desparately trying to keep them all together. Agoraphobic chicken ?

Any ideas ? they are all ex-bats and have had a good year since we got them, but not about to take any to the vet...

Thanks

clear eyes? raspy breathing? gaping mouth?

with a mucky bum and a confined area.. might be worth trying to worm them?

could be a bad sign. could be she is just not meant for old age. or maybe she is just a tad unwell. they can do that.. go off colour.. then get over it.

in your shoes, i would prolly worm them with something like flubenvet and then just see what happens
