bras and other random hoarding....

Post: # 225184Post crowsashes »

having a clearout/ spring clean ... sneezing too much too  and just cleared out my knicker drawer, its a black hole for underwear and it basically ends up in the drawer to be forgotten about as i usually take stuff of the line/out the basket and never bother going anywhere near it. but not today... so far ive counted out 25  bras ... now i didnt know i owned that many  still ive sorted through them but can not believe that they are all either a 36d or 36dd yet the differences between them are more like 2/3 cup sizes! no wonder i find it so bloody hard to get one that fits properly i know shop sizes are different but thats just ridiculous! :banghead:

ive realised today i hoard underwear... socks, knickers, tights ( i dont wear tights ... ever)
thats not to mention the black bin liner of clothes that im getting rid off... well some will make it to the repair box to use for patching other things.

i thought i was just a mad hoarder of empty glass jars and loo roll tubes...

so with spring cleaning in full swing here what other non- ish things are you guilty of hoarding?

Actually I'm the same! I cleared out my underwear/ tights recently and found loads of bras that didn't quite fit. You're right, the sizing's rubbish. I'm 36D too and I found, drum roll, a stick-on strapless bra I must have bought at some point. What did I think I was going to wear that was so revealing I'd need a stick-on strapless bra? Was it in case I got an impromptu invitation to the Oscars? I've donated it. (It doesn't work but someone might not mind buying it and keeping their elbows pressed together all evening to keep it up  ).

I hoard craft supplies. I've got seed beeds and assorted bits from before I decided that life might not be to short to stuff a mushroom but it was definitely too short for beadweaving (shame because I love the look of it).

Actually if anyone wants a bag of random beads (quite random though), just pm me, I'll post!

About once a year I tidy out my undies drawer  There are more pairs of undies and socks than I care to count and as for tights and pop socks dozens of them yet the strange thing is I haven't put on a pair of tights for years , but can't bring myself to throw them out just in case............... oh and handbags

It doesn't stop there I'm a serial hoarder of just about everything. I just love china, and we have all sorts of old kitchen gadgets that we have never used and probably never will, kitchen cupboards are packed to bursting. Oh dear and furniture is another weakness just counted up and we have 9 coffee/side tables, three dining tables the list goes on and on   We love going to auctions which is a great place to pick up stuff for the hoarder  and never come away empty handed.

Still I don't care I love all our stuff, for those who like the minimilist look good luck to them but not for me.

Not much now that the wife has found my stash of sussies and skimpy knickers.......

I hoard anything. Take for instance today I was in the garden preparing to layer the hedge dawn on Sunday and clearing away a space to work in i found one side of my old compost bin. Nothing new there except it was part of my front fence when we moved into this house 20 years ago. From the fence it went to patch up the back fence, then a potting table then reconstituted into the compost bin and now I've decided to use it to make a small gate in the hedge between my neighbour and me so we can get into each others gardens. If I hadn't hoarded this wood it "wood" be rotting in some land fill by now.

Pallets, I hoard them, any other wood..... I must have a fetish for wood.

Can't think of anything else off hand...

I seem to hoard EVERYTHING. I really need to sort the house out. I've filled the under sink cupboards with empty jars (to be fair I do freecycle these once I run out of room and start again). I've got about 3 carriers of toilet rolls tubes and can't think of anything to do with them. There aren't any freecyclers near to me mad enough to take them, I've tried.

I emptied the loft into the spare bedroom almost 12 months ago and it's still there, you can get to the window if you're prepared to hurdle a bit, but nowhere else.

My car died in september and it's still sat on the drive.

I need help! I'd be quite happy if someone emptied the place into a skip at this rate.

These are just the type of item which are rarely donated as second hand clothing. As long as they're clean and in fairly good nick please consider donating them to the Salvation Army. That way you know they'll be put to a very good use. There are lots of Salvation Army clothing donation bins in supermarkets now.

I had started collecting a few too many jars/bottles,my pantry was starting to look like I was going into my own jam making business! So nope, not collecting anymore at this given time, the surplus is going into the recycle bin!As for clothing,I have semi sorted mine out.I sometimes look at items I have brought and wondered what the hell I was thinking at the time of purchase!lol Just sorted out my photo frames yesterday.I had a couple of bookshelves devoted to photo's.Some of the frames had seen better days,so had no choice but to throw them in the bin.

As we are in a rented cottage and not wanting to hoard too much, I sorted out all our treasure boxes, gave tonnes away to charity shops and now only have items I just can't part with. All very well but I go charity shop diving and bring back more treasure  . No doubt it will all have to be done again before we move.
