Prisoners

Post: # 218766Post MKG »

I know that being in prison isn't supposed to be a joyride. I know that it's all supposed to be, at least in part, a punishment regime.

But I also know that prisoners smuggle, steal, bribe and even make alcohol. In fact, everyone knows that, including prison officers and the Home Office (if it's still called that). And it was Christmas. I can't help feeling that if some insistent jobsworth hadn't come up with the bright idea of trying to breathalyse prisoners to prove something that was already known by anyone with half a brain, we wouldn't have a heavily damaged prison to deal with right now, and a lot of money would have been saved.

So do we blame the prisoners for doing what's done every Christmas in all of our prisons, or do we point a finger at the idiot who was, after all, merely doing the job with super-efficiency?

Hmmmmm.

Difficult to chastise the idiot because it was following rules (I have no idea of the gender of the idiot, so "it" will have to do  ); at least, difficult in public.

Probably a recent graduate recruit trying to prove themselves after being left in charge while everyone else more senior took the night off. Silly sausage won't do that twice.

Well,I think(may be wrong) the BBC was saying there were 6 staff supervising 600 internees.Which just goes to show that prison hasn't become ''just like a hotel these days'' ...more like a Premier Inn!!

I agree a jobsworth must have had a common sense by-pass. One people are obviously pissed why breath test them, left alone they probably would have slept it off.
