Too late for sweet cicely?

Post: # 221620Post Nomada »

I found a packet that I've had for ages, for got to sow them last autumn. They've been in the shed over winter but I know that to germinate they need to be cold over winter. However, they have been dry in the foil packet so I don't know how much the weather got to them. If I sow them now and keep the pot in the fridgefor a few months will this be enough to get them to germinate and get leaves off them this year or do you reckon I'll have to wait until next year?

No idea whatsoever...

But what´s it going to cost you to try?

I wouldn.t have thought you´d need to put them in the fridge thouugh, thecold would still ahve got to them.

Try it both ways maybe

Good luck

Mind you. How long have you had the packet? are they still in date?

You could ry soaking them first in warm water. those that sink should be ok, the floaters most likely not.

They are still in date so it's not too big a problem leaving them until next year. I think I'll sow a few and see.
