What a laugh 1st thing in the morning!
I love this thread!
I am not going to list everything I have in mine, but it is fairly full and it is a very big handbag....
Basically I think I have everything others have mentioned before except anything to do with babies & children as I don't have any, I also don't need reading glasses yet and I am pretty sure there are no drill bits or any other tools in there either... But I am not promising it will never happen...
As for carrying anything in my pockets, well it would be very difficult most of the time, as I am very good at getting clothe without pockets, or just two piddly ones... I just don't like pockets.

my handbag is usually whatever camera bag i need at the time!

today i have in mine

a kodak junior II 6X9 camera.
my wallet
house keys
mobile phone (rarely have this but when lo is in nursery i do)

a notebook ( to write down the exposures of my pictures)
a pencil - so it wont leak ink in my bag.
steel water bottle with 2 day old water that im about to tip into a plant

I once lost a hammer drill for a week and eventually found it in my handbag

I'd forgotten that - it gave OH a giggle

I think I've come to the conclusion that the grit in the bottom of womens handbags is perhaps the female equivalent of the fluff in mens belly buttons.

I think the Arc of the Covenant may be in my bag somewhere. I could find the following:

Purse (no money just full of receipts and old gift vouchers)
Pain killers
Antacids
2 types of cream for my eczema
A packet of milky bar buttons for my daughter
Car keys, house keys and parents house keys
Make up
One glove, lost the other on a drunken night out
sunglasses
mobile phone
i-pod
and the ever present grit.

It's no wonder my back hurts, bloody hell didn't realise I was carrying that much stuff about.

Mine has passport (must carry it by law here),
I cannot go anywhere without my handbag; it is about as essential as my right arm.

OMG really? Why do you have to carry a passport? That is a bit 1984?

If mine ever left the house I would be loosing it all of the time.

I was going to join in this thread and list the contents of mine, but have decided to stop at the teaspoon with crusty dried yoghurt still on it. Euuurch!! the shame.

I can't be bothered with handbags. I put my purse in a coat pocket that has a zip on and off I go. In summer, when I don't wear a coat I don't take my purse and just take the money and cards, distributed around various pockets of my jeans.

I've never been able to work out why people need handbags

How times change. I put a note on Facebook asking people to remind me to sew up the hole in my bag and someone said "I thought you didn't have a bag". Well it turns out during the last 2 years I have completely changed. I started using a handbag that I had left over after I closed down my online shop. A few months later I decided it was too small and bought myself a gorgeous one that was about twice the size. Now I'm having to sew it up because it's bursting at the seams

Here's what's in it:

mobile phone
purse
keys
little manicure set
compact mirror
tissues
pens and a pencil
scrap paper cut into small bits to use for notes
bits of paper with random notes and calculations that no longer mean anything to me
an old granny silky headscarf which I can use as a scarf, shawl, cover for LO in the car if she's cold, or by tying the corners up I can use it as an emergency shopping bag
library cards
hand sanitizer spray
mini bags of sweets to use as bribes or headache relievers
this year's diary
last year's diary for when I'm really bored and want to know what I was doing this time last year
hairbrush with a broken handle
clean food bags for if I see anything to forage
tickets to a show and freebie taster DVD I was given at the show
a handkerchief
a small ball of wool
a kazoo (you never know when you might need a kazoo)
bobbles and a scrunchie
bits of rubbish

You have to carry ID which most countries demand I think, but as I have no French identity card as I am not French, and they no longer require foreigners to have a Carte de Sejour, my only ID is a passport. Shame as before I only needed a card (my CdS); however because back then we were living on the border with Switzerland and passing backwards and forwards between countries we had to have our passports with us anyway! So it's no big deal, it just lives in a pocket in my handbag.

Yes - that's me!!! all taken from the copious amounts of grit I manage to keep not only in my handbag but in every pocket of the multitude of pockets in my hunting jacket!

Ha, I was just about to post something that said that I'd once carried a hammer drill around in my handbag when I came across the post I'd already made. So, can we resurrect the thread about me having the worst memory in the world

For the record, it was a very big handbag and a very heavy hammer drill.

Now I confine myself to tape measures and the odd screwdriver.
